I am putting forth another mystery to be solved. What is it? This plant has taken over our backyard. Last year, it was so vigorous and plentiful that they were choking the established rose plants. We dug up most of the plants and only a few returned this year. Most of these plants grow from a large tuber and are quite a chore to dig up. Persistent little buggers! It is a colorful and pretty plant, but we had too many. Any thoughts?

Is it low-growing, like a ground cover? The leaves remind me of vinca but the flower is a bit different…Hmmm….a mystery for sure.
