Photography Monday: World War II Memorial

Washington D.C. is one of our favorite places to visit.  Every time we visit we are able to see something new because you can never see it all in one trip.  It is a vibrant city filled with museums, memorials, and historical buildings.  A photographer’s dream.  On our most recent trip, we explored the World War II Memorial for the first time.

Many of the DC memorials have water features and this one was spectacular

Many of the DC memorials have water features and this one was spectacular!

It is so moving to view a memorial with those who served our country.

Every last detail was finished including the drain cover.

Every state is represented in the memorial.

The sun casting its shadows across the memorial was unexpected yet beautiful.

The World War II Memorial honors the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S., the more than 400,000 who died, and all who supported the war effort.  The memorial is a monument to the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the American people.  If you want to learn more about the World War II Memorial, please visit this site for more information.

Next week, I will post photos from our visit to Mount Vernon.
