I have been away for a while and have missed you so. I came back from a long business trip to be greeted by our maple tree. It is small in stature, but graces our driveway with its beauty. It started to bloom before I left, but I think it is now fully realized and enjoying the spring. What I find amazing is that when this tree goes dormant, it is not a pretty sight. Most of the dead leaves hang on and you think it will never come back. Then, when all hope is lost, it buds out and the leaves appear within a few days. Such a transformation!
Once they came on a maple in a glade,
Standing alone with smooth arms lifted up,
And every leaf of foliage she’d worn
Laid scarlet and pale pink about her feet.
Standing alone with smooth arms lifted up,
And every leaf of foliage she’d worn
Laid scarlet and pale pink about her feet.
