A few months ago, we experienced a hard frost in Southern California. It happens periodically and most often, tender plants are damaged and sometimes killed by these extreme temperatures. We thought our Japanese maple didn’t survive the event. It was covered with dead leaves that were clinging to the branches. I left it alone and hoped for the best. Well, look at it now. It came through unscathed and as healthy as ever. The wonders of nature never cease.
It is not more surprising to be born twice than once; everything in nature is resurrection. -Voltaire

We have a beautiful Japanese Maple at our home in New Hampshire and harsh winter conditions have never bothered it. I hope your tree continues to thrive as they as so beautiful.
