A few weeks ago, I was in my parents backyard snipping some roses for a bouquet. To my astonishment, I saw their beautiful magnolia tree covered with glorious blooms. At this point I realized that I have never seen it in all its glory at this time of year. In the spring and summer, it provides a canopy of shade and respite from the heat. But, in the winter, it shines like a beacon in shades of white and aubergine. Stunning!
