My parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year by taking us all on vacation. Six adults and two children traveling together to spend time together as a family. We took Amtrak from Southern California to Glacier National Park, which is a great way to arrive at the park, rested and refreshed. We stayed at the Glacier Park Lodge, a very short drive from the Glacier Park railway station. Built in 1912-13 and opened to guests on June, 15, 1913, the lodge is supported by immense timbers that are about 500-800 years old. A beautiful example of park architecture, we enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it for anyone that plans on visiting the park.
Without tv’s in the rooms or the lobby, other forms of entertainment came into play. Every night offered some form of live entertainment from a local singer. Some of the lobby tables had a puzzle to complete plus we as a family played Mexican Train almost every night. Living the lodge life was a great way to unwind after a day of exploring the park.
More installments to come about Glacier National Park. Stay tuned!
