With Thanksgiving a few months away, I wanted to decorate our front porch to reflect the upcoming season with the Autumn Curly Paper Wreath. I enjoy celebrating the seasons with autumn and Thanksgiving being some of my favorites. I look forward to this time of year because in Southern California the intense heat of the summer is gone and we are left with the mild temperatures we are known for. Thank goodness.

Gather the following tools and supplies to create the Autumn Curly Paper Wreath:

(These next 3 links are affiliate links which means I get a commission if you purchase through me.)

  1. Cut 6-7 sheets of paper into 1/2″ strips using a paper trimmer.
  2. Curl all of the strips using the bone folder in a similar fashion as curling ribbon with a pair of scissors. You can tighten the curls by twisting them in your hands.
  3. Attach the curly strips to the foam wreath by adding a center pin to each curl and pushing the pin into the foam using the thimble. Some curls will need 2-3 pins to secure the paper curl properly to the wreath form. Make it as lush and curly as you like.
  4. Attach a ribbon loop to the back of the form for hanging.
  5. Display your Autumn Curly Paper Wreath.

I am obsessed with making these curly paper wreaths. Because I always have lots of scrapbook paper on hand, I use what I have to make each wreath unique. I tend to choose more muted colors to decorate my front porch because anything too bright looks garish against my historic 105 year old home. That is what I love about this project because you can choose bright or muted or psychedelic colors. Anything works so choose what you love. Now that the autumn decorations are on display, it is time to move on to decorating the Thanksgiving table. Meet me back here for easy DIY Thanksgiving table decoration ideas. Be creative!

Editor’s note: I created this wreath using the patterned paper I had on hand.
