Welcome to Day 12 of 31 Days of Handmade Cards! Birthday gifts are a popular theme for birthday cards. Top the gift with a three-dimensional bow and this card sings.
Gather the following tools and supplies to create the card for Day 12 of 31 Days of Handmade Cards:
(These next 6 links are affiliate links which means I get a commission if you purchase through me.)
- Ultimate Card Making Tool Kit
- bow shaped die
- embossing folder
- patterned paper
- white cardstock and colored cardstock
- tape runner
- mini tape runner
- Cut the pink cardstock to be 4.25″ high by 8.5″ wide. Cut the white cardstock to be 5.25″ high x 4″ wide.
- Fold the pink cardstock in half lengthwise and use the bone folder to crisp the edge.
- Run the white cardstock using the embossing folder through the Cuttlebug machine.
- Adhere the embossed panel to the card.
- Cut three rectangles out of patterned paper. Bottom rectangle measures 2.75″ wide by 1.5″ high. Middle rectangle measures 2.25″ wide by 1.5″ high. Top rectangle measures 1.5″ wide by 1.5″ high.
- Affix all three rectangles to the embossed card.
- Cut the bow using the die and Cuttlebug.
- Assemble the bow using the demo on the video below as a guide since I used the Stampin’ Up Bow Maker to punch out the bow pieces. You will need a bone folder and tape runner to make the bow.
- Cut another piece of pink cardstock to be .25″ wide by 4.5″ long.
- Adhere the strip using the mini tape runner and the bow using the tape runner to the card.
- Write your own sentiment or download the sentiments freebie and mail Day 12 of 31 Days of Handmade Cards.
As with the card from Day 11, this card is another scrap buster. I have made this card many times using different color combinations. It looks fabulous every time. The bow is what makes this card fun to receive and definitely display worthy. Meet me back here for Day 13 of the 31 Days of Handmade Cards. Be creative!
Editor’s note: I created this card using the Stampin’ Up Bow Maker, which must be purchased through a demonstrator. The Spellbinders bow-shaped die is a suitable alternative. I also used the Cuttlebug Baby’s Breath embossing folder, but any embossing folder of your choosing would be suitable.
Remember to Pin it!

you mention freebie sentiments “below”, but I don’t see them. Is there somewhere else to look? Thanks
